Hi there! Welcome to my stop of the super inspiring Simon Says Stamp Diecember Release Blog hop. You should have arrived here from Lea Lawson’s blog. Now I know you are at the tail end of this inspirational blog hop, but I hope you stay since Simon is very generously awarding a $25 gift card to their store. So scroll to the bottom and leave a comment 🙂

Now I have 2 techniques that are SUPER easy and you must try with your dies. I am using ONE die for both of my cards, the newest release called Stylized Angel is an intricate die that can be used for more than just Christmas cards, just see below.

TECHNIQUE #1 — HEAT EMBOSSING PARTIAL CUTS

So, I decided that this die was just too pretty but I need somewhere to add my foam adhesive, so I left the inner part of the angle, pressed the whole thing onto my SSS embossing pad and covered the whole thing with Copper Embossing powder. Once that was heat set, I added a sentiment from You Got This stamp set in the same Copper Embossing Powder.  The whole card was incredibly easy to make and as you can see it is not a Christmas or Holiday Card.

TECHNIQUE # 2 — PARTIAL CUT WITH COLORING

So, this angel has the prettiest features that it soooo needed coloring. I pulled out my Copics and did some very basic coloring. My background cardstock is on a DIY repetitive background of snowflakes from the Christmas Cheer stamp set and sentiment from Thankful Flowers stamp set.  I added just a little bit of Nuvo drops on the dress.

Super easy right?! I have added all the products I used down below. Thanks so much for stopping by today. Again be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win one of the many $25 gift cards.

Your next stop is Betty Wright

  1. The angels are so pretty. I like the use of copper, and the one with the snowflake background is SO GORGEOUS!

  2. Now that I see this angel die in some cards I realize it can be used year round. I like the way you embossed it. Using parts with the inlay an others open I see many different possibilities for this die. Thanks for sharing!

  3. The angel one in copper is beautiful. Where could I purchase the the die sentiment in the middle? Thanks so much.

  4. A M A Z I N G cards and I am in love with this release! There’s no way I can choose a favorite…I want them ALL!! LOL

  5. So many different ways to use that angel die, it’s so pretty. Thanks for sharing some great inspiration.

  6. Love that you used this angel in another way than Christmas. I want that first one in my stash for sure (and the second one as well).

  7. Love your designs. Angels are present in my life throughout my life, not just at Christmas, so why not my cards, too? Brillant.

  9. Stunning cards! Love the copper embossing. Your Coptic coloring is lovely. It’s fun to see the versatility of the dies! Thanks!!

  10. The copper embossing powder is so pretty with that plaid background! And your coloring is beautiful. I am loving the Stylized Angel.

  11. Thank you for sharing die cutting techniques with us. I’d love to be able to get a die cutting machine someday.

  12. Thanks for sharing these cards. I think “Hope is stronger than your fear” was a great sentiment to use with the angel. In Luke’s narrative of the Birth of Christ, you see several times where the Angel Gabriel uses the phrase “Fear not.” 🙂

  13. Great ideas! I never would have thought to combine a plaid with the angel but it is wonderful! Love that you used the die as a coloring design, too.

  14. Different and interesting approach to using this die. Less Christmasy, more lots of occasions. Love this die.

  15. That copper embossed angel is just gorgeous. I’m imagining all kinds of beautiful embossed die cuts using all kinds of powders.
